Diasporic Ink
Diasporic Ink represents a collection of paintings born out of the Chinese tradition of ink on paper, conducted by artists who have since migrated from the mainland to other, overseas communities - notably New York, London and Hong Kong. This process of dislocation from the origins of their cultural practice has allowed room for experimentation with materials, technique and ultimately with modes of representation, resulting in evocative imagery that at once acknowledges the past and simultaneously breaks with it.
